Outfit of the day

This is what I wore on Saturday. Me and Mike went to a small boot sale which wasn't very good and then we collected an Ebay item, which I later ended up returning, grrr.
Lace peter pan collar top-boot sale, River Island polka dot dungarees- boot sale.

I'm a sucker for a peter pan collar. They are so versatile and this particular one goes so well with these River Island polka dot dungarees which I got from a boot sale last week. I actually tried on this exact pair when they were being sold in-store so when I found them for a mere £1.00 I bought them without hesitation. Correct size and everything, it was meant to be. At 22 years old I don't think I will ever grow out of polka dots. I even have another pair of polka dot dungarees in a similar style from Topshop which I purchased when I used to work for them.

Boot sale haul

Yay for Liberty. This beautiful floral print Liberty blouse was £1.50. I haven't had a chance to wear this yet but I'm so glad to add it to my slow growing collection of Liberty items.

These acid wash shorts were originally jeans which I bought for £1.00. I love these so much, I always struggle to find nice acid wash items so these are perfect.

Now, brace yourself for this amazing hoop skirt. It was 50p. Need I say more to why I purchased it? Obviously it's not going to be something I am going to wear out but you never know when a hoop skirt might come in handy...ok I admit it was a odd purchase but hey 50p!!

These two satchels are so cute. I managed to get the larger leather one for £4.00 and the tiny satchel for 50p.

Who doesn't love a freebie? Walked past a lady who was pretty much getting rid of everything for free so had a rummage and came away with these items. Seaside themed chalk board (I love the seaside), floral pillow, brand new body lotions and brand new Ted Baker mini perfume.

Tips for selling at a boot sale

Boot sales are a great way to make quick money. Here are a few tips for selling at them.
  • The best way to find out about boot sales is through your local newspaper, there is usually always a section dedicated to free time and leisure, and through this you can find out the address, time and price for selling.
  • Boot sales on a Sunday are the best ones to sell at.
  • Make sure you bring a wallpaper table, a blanket or sheet to lay items on and a clothes rail.
  • Try to fill your car up as much as possible, this is to ensure you make the most of paying £12 or however much it is for your pitch. I always fill the car up to the top.
  • I recommend to try and sell with a friend or family member as then you have someone to guard the stall if you want to have a look round or use the toilet. It's also a good idea because it can get extremely busy and you don't want anyone stealing from your stall when your back is turned.
  • Speaking of toilets, they are always gross! So make sure you have gone to the toilet before you leave and if you do need the toilet make sure you bring tissue and some hand sanitiser. A lot of boot sale sellers bring flasks of tea or something but I personally wouldn't recommend it because you'll be peeing 10x an hour. Just make sure you have a small drink and food as boot sale food prices are expensive.
  • Upon arriving at a boot sale you will be bombarded by people tapping on your window asking if you have any mobiles, jewellery, perfumes, electricals etc. They are very annoying and can be quite intimidating.
  • The best time to have a gander round the boot sale is at the beginning once you've set up. This is because it is still quiet and also you will find all the good stuff before anyone else has got to it.
  • Most stalls price their clothing for around 50p/£1.00. Obviously if it's worth more then the price will be a bit higher.
  • One persons trash is another persons treasure. You'd be surprised at what people buy so it's always worth trying to sell it before chucking it in the bin.
  • Bring shoe boxes and put little bits and bobs in. I usually have a few boxes of things that are 20p each which are generally hair clips, keyrings, random things that aren't really worth anything.
  • Bring some little sticky labels and make some signs to try and draw people in.
  • DO NOT SHOUT PRICES OUT LIKE A MARKET STALL. It puts people off.
  • Make sure you bring enough hangers, plastic bags, plastic sheets incase it rains, paper and pens. Oh and don't forget the spare change, you'll need loads!
  • Don't leave the boot sale early. I never understand why people do this? I stick around till the very end to get my moneys worth. What's the point in paying £12 to sell at a boot sale if you're going to leave halfway through.
Hope these tips help!

Outfit of the day

This is what I wore to run a few errands today. Sorry for the terrible iphone photos, it was actually raining outside and I couldn't be bothered to fetch my camera from upstairs lol.
Pink jacket-Lipsy, Dress-Primark, Bag-Vivienne Westwood, Socks-Topshop, Knock off creepers-Ebay.

The pink jacket is my most recent purchase. I rarely purchase anything brand new nowadays unless it's a gift or something amazing which this truly is. I've been looking for a pink jacket for a while now and this ticks all the boxes. It's made of a denim material but is in the style of a leather jacket. I only found this through chance as I would never usually step foot in Lipsy but just so happened to walk past and the jacket caught my eye through the window, and even better as it was in the sale for £27 down from £45.
Also, some of you may have noticed I haven't posted my usual 'what's on over the weekend' post. This is because I have decided to stop writing them up as I am pretty much repeating myself every weekend as there aren't many jumble sales on at the moment. Hope this is okay, less spam for your eyes then hehe.

Jumble sale haul

There haven't been many jumble sales on recently so I jumped with joy when I saw one advertised in the local newspaper last week, so as usual I dragged Mike with me. The jumble sale started at 10am but we got there at 9.35 and waited in the car for 10 minutes...when we got to the entrance at 9.45 it was already open. Somebody had already bought a whole black bag of clothing and there was pretty much no clothing left :( luckily I managed to pick up the following items.

Pretty cake stand

Found this pretty tin which had sewing bits and bobs inside. Very sweet! I love the pattern on this so much!

We also got a Moomin mug for Mikes mum who is a Moomin fan. I got all these items for £2.50, a bit expensive than most jumble sales I've been to but still a wonderful bargain. Bring on the two jumble sales on tomorrow-can't wait!

Haul and selling at a boot sale

So yesterday me and Mike set our alarm for 4am and onwards we went to sell at a boot sale. Selling at a boot sale is a great way to make extra money and I would recommend it if you have a ton of stuff you no longer want. You'd be surprised at what people would buy, for example we've had old cutlery and managed to sell the whole lot in one go. I might make a post on selling at a boot sale if people are interested?
Whilst selling I managed to take a look round whilst Mike looked after our stall. I bought a lot of items because I was browsing at the very beginning whilst it was still pretty empty so it meant a lot of items hadn't been bought yet. Here are some of my favourite bits I purchased.

One of the very first stalls I looked at had these Vivienne Westwood Iphone button stickers. There is only a few stickers left and I'm pretty sure these aren't licensed products by her but for 50p I don't mind.

My passport will now look pretty in this Cath Kidston passport case. It cost 50p and still had it's tags attached.

Clinique 'All About Eyes' cream. Cost a mere £1 and is brand new. The lady told me she spends quite a bit in Clinique so gets free goodie bags sometimes.

What is with me finding Chanel make-up for cheap? This time I got these Chanel nail varnishes for only 50p altogether. Yay! Maybe next time I'll find a vintage Chanel bag for cheap. A girl can dream right?

This pretty lace cushion was £1 but because of a stain on it I managed to get it for 50p. Nothing a little baking soda won't get rid of.

You can never have enough boxes, always something to store away to keep the house from looking too cluttered. This large box was £2 and I managed to get it for £1.50. It's a great size and on the top of it someone has written 'action man kit box'

Other items I purchased were some oversized sunglasses for 50p, Christian Dior lipstick brush for 50p, a scalloped peter pan collar blouse for 75p and a tartan dress with collar for £1.00.

Towards the end of the boot sale the guy next to us decided to leave and he left a lot of items he no longer wanted so I had a little snoop and came back with quite a bit (yay for free stuff). A minolta flash, 35mm film, Kodak instamatic camera with bag, instructions and unopened film, a little vintage tin, and lastly about 100-200 postcards dating from around the 70's/80's, it's very interesting reading through what people have wrote on the post cards. I collect them so I was really happy about this.

Phewwww that was a huge post. Hope this makes up for my slight absence
